Clean & Safe Establishment Declaration

The establishment Lagoa Hotel (RNET nº 6141) registered its declaration of compliance with the standards that allow them to advertise themselves as Clean and Safe Establishments, valid until 30th April 2021.

The World Health Organization declared Coronavirus as the causing agent of the COVID-19 pandemic, an international public health emergency. To prevent risks and infections, we guarantee the existence of an internal protocol that defines the necessary prevention, control and surveillance procedures. Likewise, this establishment declares to comply with the requirements defined by Portugal Tourism, in accordance with the guidelines of the General Directorate of Health, that allows it to consider it a CLEAN & SAFE Establishment.

Training for all employees

All employees received information and/or training about:

Internal protocol regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.

How to comply with the basic precautions of infection prevention and control related to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, including the procedures.

  • Hands hygiene: wash your hands frequently with water and soap for at least 20 seconds, or use a hand sanitizer with at least 70% alcohol. Cover every surface of your hands and rub them until they dry.
  • Breathing label: cough or sneeze in your flexed forearm or use a tissue, which you must then get rid of immediately; always disinfect your hands after coughing or sneezing, and after blowing your nose; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with your hands.
  • Social behavior: change the frequency and contact method between employees and between them and the clients, avoiding (when possible) close contact, hand-shakings, kisses, shared work stations, face to face meetings and sharing food, utensils, glasses, and towels. Comply with the daily self-monitoring procedures for fever detection (measure your body temperature and record the value and time of measurement), monitor for coughing or breathing difficulty, and comply with the guidelines of the General Directorate of Health for cleaning of surfaces and treatment of linen in establishments.

The hotels have:

  • Enough personal protection equipment for all the employees
  • Personal protection equipment available for the customers (maximum capacity of the establishment).
  • Single-use cleaning materials stock according to its dimensions, including single-use cleaning wipes moistened with disinfectant, bleach and 70º alcohol.
  • Alcohol-based antiseptic solution or alcohol-based solution dispensers next to entry/exit points, and, where applicable, also per floor, at the entrance to the restaurant, the bar and the common sanitary facilities.
  • Waste container with non-manual opening and plastic bag.
  • Space for isolating people who have been detected as suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19. This space should preferably have natural ventilation, or a mechanical ventilation system, and be equipped with smooth washable linings, toilet, stock of cleaning material, surgical masks and disposable gloves, thermometer, self-contained waste container, rubbish bags, bags for used clothing, kit with water and non-perishable food.
  • In the sanitary facilities, hand-washing equipment with liquid soap and paper towels.

The hotels guarantee:

  • The application of washing and disinfection procedures, according to internal protocol, of surfaces where employees and clients are present, the control and prevention of infections and antimicrobial resistance.
  • Cleaning, several times a day, of surfaces and common use objects (including counters, light and lift switches, door knobs, cupboard handles).
  • Wet cleaning should be favored over dry cleaning and vacuuming.
  • Air renewal in rooms and enclosed spaces is carried out on a regular basis.
  • The disinfection of the pool or other equipment from the SPA/wellness areas (if any) is carried out according to the internal protocol.
  • Jacuzzi disinfection (if any) is carried out on a regular basis with the draining of all the water, followed by washing and disinfection, then filling with clean water and disinfecting with chlorine in the appropriate quantity, according to internal protocol.
  • In food and beverage areas, the hygiene of utensils, equipment and surfaces is reinforced, and direct handling of food by clients and employees is avoided as much as possible.
